Gotcha.

With yesterday being April Fool's Day, I tried to think of something to pull on Papa J. He's been super stressed all week about tests and so forth that I thought I'd do a little celebration to get him to smile and laugh again.

I had remembered seeing a cake made out of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I called a friend to get a recipe and was on my way to a masterpiece or so I thought. In my mind everything played out differently, of course, but we had fun in the end. I knew I had to hurry out the door when J came home because of a quilting class I've been taking on Wed. nights so I had wanted to leave the cake behind without even telling him what it actually was. Well he had surprised me by coming home a little early. I was still "frosting" the cake when he walked through the door. He immediately was searching for dinner. When I finished, I told him dinner was ready and that I needed to run. He looked confused and said, "Cake?" He then proceeded to ask what type of cake it was and examined it up close.
Nope, not the best looking cake on the block. I tried to use my giant cupcake pan, it sorta worked. I was more worried if it was fully cooked or not. I had wanted to add ribbon and more decorations, but had run out of time. I finally confessed and let him know what it actually was. He admitted that I had "got" him.

Meatloaf anyone?
