So are you still curious as to why Papa J shaved his head? Here is the story:
A couple of weeks ago I received an email from a friend. In the subject line it read, "Thought J might get a kick out of this...." So naturally I opened it up wondering what she was talking about. It was a link to a craigslist ad. I clicked on the link and it read:

Actors Needed for Discovery Channel Shark Week Show
We will be filming reenactments on May 21st for a Discovery Channel Shark Week show about shark attacks. Please only respond if you fit one of the descriptions below, as we have already filmed the interviews and are looking for actors who resemble the real people.
01 - Shark Attack Survivor/Navy Seal: Male, Caucasian. Early 30s. 6Ft Tall, 178 lbs Athletic Build. Shaved Head. Must be very strong swimmer. Role will involve swimming in SF Bay w/wetsuit. Film and/or diving experience a plus but not required. Role is based on Navy Seal diver.
02 - Navy Seal: Male, Late 20s - Late 30s. Athletic Build. Must be very strong swimmer.
03: - Navy Seal: Male, Late 20s-Late 30s. Athletic Build. Must be very strong swimmer.

Funny, huh? I laughed too and made him apply knowing with his luck he'd probably get a part. So we sent in his info along with a picture and we waited.
Last Saturday (5/15/10) morning he received a call asking if he would be willing to shave his head for the part. Apparently he looks like the man who was attacked. He laughed and I laughed, but he wasn't quite sure he was willing to part with his hair. So the lady gave us till 5pm to give her an answer. As we thought more about it, we decided he just had to. It's an opportunity that doesn't come often and oh what a story to tell!
The shoot was this last Friday and Papa J had a blast. He was also very exhausted from swimming all day in the bay. The show is set to air in August and as time gets closer, we will have a more exact date and time. Until then, we will be watching his hair grow back.
