Birthday Girl.

My niece turned 5! My goodness how time flies. It was so fun to celebrate with her and for Z to be there to join in the fun, too. We enjoyed cupcakes the first night we arrived into town. After the Thanksgiving festivities, my sister held a birthday party for all of my niece's friends.

She held it at the park. Some kids played on the playground, while others put together an owl necklace. It was cute, simple and not overly done.
My sister had decided on an owl theme after finding a great deal on recycled bags at Old Navy. She then asked my mother (now an expert on paper mache) to make an owl piñata for the party. It turned out fabulous! We were really scared the kids wouldn't be able to break it because it was so strong, but they surprised us. After a few kids taking a whack at it, they all raced to grab up the candy.

The most entertaining part of the party was immediately after my niece was sung happy birthday to. Every child there had to have part of the rainbow from the cake. I've never heard so many kids want the same thing all at once. It was pretty comical. My brother in law was so good at making all the children happy by evenly splitting up the rainbow frosting.

We had so much fun and we wish we could come down more often.
