Locked Out

So when you're the manager of a complex, you are in charge of keys for all of the apartments. But who has the extra set of keys to your own apt? Well in the midst of a long morning with Zoe recovering from her 4 month shots (she had a slight fever) and re-arranging the apt with Zoe's new crib and furniture from my parents, we ended up locking ourselves out of the apt. I went to show an apt to a lady who was very "eager" and luckily grabbing Zoe before leaving the door, I later realized I didn't grab my keys. Jeremy so kindly locks the door after him when leaving in the morning to assure our protection that I forget it's locked when I leave the house. Luckily this was the first time and hopefully the last. Our boss does have an extra set of keys for emergencies like this, but unfortunately he was in meetings all day with his cell phone turned off. Just my luck. We were able to borrow a phone from our neighbors to call a locksmith and $88 later we were rescued. (I did try to break in, but being on the second floor and having all the windows locked didn't help.) I just count my blessings that she wasn't locked in the apt by herself or the window would have been broken, or a door kicked in. But it was an adventure being in my pajamas with a tired child outside for two hours. It's a good thing we don't live in a nicer neighborhood or I would have had some pretty good looks. Oh well....all is fun in a days work!
